L’inaugurazione dell’anno scolastico 2026/2027 segna l’inizio del mandato della nuova Head of School, Prof.ssa Viviane Mingazzini, alla guida del nostro istituto. Formatasi tra Belgio, Italia e Francia e in possesso di un Certificate in School Management and Leadership della Harvard Business School, la Professoressa Mingazzini porta nella nostra comunità oltre trent’anni di esperienza nel mondo educativo dopo essere stata docente di Francese nell’ambito dell’International Baccalaureate e avere ricoperto un incarico decennale nella direzione della Scuola Secondaria della Marymount International School of Rome, istituto gemello al nostro. Attraverso la partecipazione a organismi quali MSA, CIS e IBEN, la nuova Head of School affianca, inoltre, al suo autorevole profilo di leadership anche un significativo impegno nell’ambito dei processi internazionali di valutazione, accreditamento e sviluppo professionale degli educatori. Ed è proprio a questi ultimi che, nel suo saluto di benvenuto a tutti i membri dello staff, ha voluto dedicare una riflessione sull’importanza di abitare il tempo presente tanto nella sua dimensione quantitativa (chronos) quanto in quella qualitativa (kairos), intrecciandola con le parole di Padre Gailhac: «L’insegnante è il modello della propria classe, e la classe è il riflesso del proprio insegnante. […] Tutto ciò che l’insegnante è, gli studenti lo diventeranno».
L’arrivo della Prof.ssa Mingazzini si inserisce, così, nel cammino di una comunità che proprio in questi primi giorni di settembre ha scelto di raccogliersi nella preghiera, nell’ascolto e nella riflessione sul significato dell’educare e sul ruolo della scuola nella società, guidata anche dalle parole di Padre Marcin Schmidt, che resterà al nostro fianco per condividere con noi la ricchezza della sua esperienza pastorale ecumenica e cosmopolita, maturata nella dimensione del dialogo e dell’incontro tra culture e tradizioni diverse.
Ma accanto ai primi rintocchi speculativi l’orologio di settembre ha anche già scandito quelli operativi: impegnati nei numerosi percorsi di formazione e aggiornamento proposti in questi giorni, i docenti hanno già condiviso intensi e preziosi momenti di studio, confronto e crescita professionale, testimoniando così la convinzione profonda che accompagnare i giovani nel loro cammino significa, prima di tutto, continuare a essere in cammino.
È questo lo spirito con cui attendiamo il ritorno delle nostre studentesse e dei nostri studenti al suono della prima campanella, con la memoria ben salda nelle nostre radici, la consapevolezza del presente e lo sguardo fiducioso sempre rivolto al futuro.

Ti affidiamo il tempo che oggi ricomincia. Donaci sapienza per organizzare il nostro Chronos, perché sappiamo essere responsabili del tempo, delle persone, della Missione RSHM e dei compiti che ci sono affidati.
Ma donaci soprattutto occhi capaci di riconoscere il Kairos: il momento in cui fermarci, la persona da ascoltare, la parola da pronunciare e quella da non pronunciare, l’occasione per incoraggiare, la possibilità di ricominciare.
Aiutaci a vedere in ogni studente non soltanto ciò che è oggi, ma ciò che può diventare. Rendici una comunità capace di lavorare insieme con competenza, fiducia, rispetto e speranza.

The inauguration of the 2026/2027 school year marks the beginning of the mandate of our new Head of School, Prof. Viviane Mingazzini, at the helm of our institute. Educated in Belgium, Italy and France, and holding a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School, Prof. Mingazzini brings to our community over thirty years of experience in education, having taught French within the International Baccalaureate programme and having spent a decade in the leadership of the Secondary School at Marymount International School of Rome, our sister school. Through her involvement in bodies such as MSA, CIS and IBEN, our new Head of School combines her authoritative leadership profile with a significant commitment to international processes of evaluation, accreditation and the professional development of educators. And it was precisely to these educators that, in her welcome address to all members of staff, she chose to dedicate a reflection on the importance of inhabiting the present time in both its quantitative dimension (chronos) and its qualitative one (kairos), weaving it together with the words of Father Gailhac: “The teacher is the model of his or her own class, and the class is the reflection of its teacher. […] All that the teacher is, the students will become.”
The arrival of Prof. Mingazzini thus takes its place along the path of a community which, in these first days of September, has chosen to gather in prayer, in listening and in reflection on the meaning of education and on the role of the school in society — guided also by the words of Father Marcin Schmidt, who will remain at our side to share with us the richness of his ecumenical and cosmopolitan pastoral experience, shaped by dialogue and by encounter among different cultures and traditions.
Yet alongside these first contemplative chimes, September’s clock has already struck the operational ones as well: engaged in the many training and professional development courses offered over these days, our teachers have already shared intense and valuable moments of study, discussion and professional growth, bearing witness to the deep conviction that accompanying young people on their journey means, first and foremost, continuing to journey ourselves.
This is the spirit in which we await the return of our students at the sound of the first bell, with our memory firmly rooted in our origins, an awareness of the present, and a confident gaze always turned towards the future.
Lord,
We entrust to You the time that begins again today. Grant us the wisdom to order our Chronos, that we may be responsible stewards of time, of people, of the RSHM Mission and of the tasks entrusted to us.
But grant us above all eyes able to recognise the Kairos: the moment to pause, the person to listen to, the word to speak and the word to leave unspoken, the chance to encourage, the possibility of beginning again.
Help us to see in every student not only who they are today, but who they may become. Make us a community able to work together with competence, trust, respect and hope.
