Early childhood

Early Childhood accommodates children from three to five years of age and foresees two sections for each age group. There are two teachers present in each class; a mother tongue English teacher and an Italian teacher. Their care and attention stimulates and encourages learning, creativity and curiosity in their students. Through the bilingual method the children discover that learning English is stimulating and fun. The program was designed to enrich and expand vocabulary and lexicon in English, increase the students’ comprehension of the spoken language, and improve the child’s ability to express him/herself in the language. The educational philosophy adopted by early childhood is to provide and educational program that fosters the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development of each child.

Within a structured and creative environment the children learn to explore their world, communicate, make decisions and develop independence.

The classrooms are organised so as to offer the children a serene environment for daily routines, socio-recreational activities and play time. Large rooms equipped with games allow the children to move freely in complete safety. In these colourful, functional classrooms equipped with stimulating educational tools children begin their first approach to the acquisition of knowledge. Learning through games is considered the most significant learning method for this age group and with a careful selection of materials has a vital role in specific learning experiences.

The objectives in Early Childhood are:
• Develop confidence and a positive self-image
• Develop effective socialisation skills
• Introduce the English language
• Develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills
• Develop the first mathematical skills
• Stimulate curiosity
